CHI Health St. Elizabeth Partners With Cancer Partners Of Nebraska For Oncology Care

CHI Health St. Elizabeth is continuing its commitment to providing the highest quality cancer care through a new partnership with Cancer Partners of Nebraska. Through this collaboration, oncologists with the independent physician group will care for patients at St. Elizabeth in the hospital’s existing radiation oncology program and Lincoln’s first established Multidisciplinary Breast Clinic.

“St. Elizabeth is excited to work alongside the oncologists at Cancer Partners of Nebraska,” said Rick Thompson, MD, MBA, FACS, FACC, FACCP, Interim President at CHI Health St. Elizabeth. “We share the common goal of giving patients in Lincoln and surrounding communities access to care that’s centered around them using the latest technology and the highest standards of care. Together, we are committed to the best quality outcomes.”

Mark Stavas, MD, Board Certified Radiation Oncologist with Cancer Partners of Nebraska, will serve as St. Elizabeth’s Medical Director for its Radiation Oncology program. The hospital has invested in the latest technology for radiation oncology patients. St. Elizabeth’s new radiosurgery suite hosts the Edge, a new state-of-the-art machine that provides non-invasive, more precise and quicker treatments resulting in fewer visits for patients with a wide range of cancers.

“The Edge sets a new standard for radiation oncology in Lincoln and empowers our team to offer the highest quality of care for patients in this community," said Dr. Stavas. “This machine offers a comprehensive solution with industry leading precision, accuracy and patient comfort.”

St. Elizabeth’s new Louise D. SchleichWomen’s Health Center is also now open to patients. Located in the hospital’s medical plaza, the center provides a warm and comfortable space for mammography, ultrasound, bone density screenings and more. The hospital is also the only place in Lincoln to offer women additional screening with the ABUS, an automated breast ultrasound machine, that gives women with dense breast tissue a clearer image and more peace of mind. The Women’s Health Center also houses St. Elizabeth’s Multidisciplinary Breast Clinic, which continues to offer genetic testing and a team-based approach to cancer care.
