Central Dakota Hospital Laundry Announces $17M Expansion
Central Dakota Hospital Laundry (CDHL), a trusted provider of healthcare laundry and linen services throughout central and western North Dakota, has begun a $17 million expansion and modernization project designed to increase capacity, improve efficiency and support the growing needs of healthcare organizations across the region.
Construction on the project began in early July at CDHL's facility located at 1300 Industrial Dr. in Bismarck. The project includes a 15,000 to 17,000-square-foot addition and the installation of all new processing equipment. When complete, the upgraded facility is expected to increase production capacity by 50% to 70%, positioning CDHL to meet increasing demand while enhancing service and operational efficiency.
"This investment represents an important step in the future of Central Dakota Hospital Laundry," said Mike Voigt, general manager, CDHL. "By expanding and modernizing our facility, we are strengthening our ability to serve healthcare organizations across North Dakota while ensuring we continue to provide the reliable, high-quality linen services that support patient care every day."
For more than 50 years, Central Dakota Hospital Laundry has provided essential laundry and linen services to hospitals and healthcare organizations throughout North Dakota. The organization serves a wide range of healthcare customers, including Sanford Health, CHI St. Alexius Health, Bismarck Cancer Center and healthcare facilities in communities such as Dickinson and Minot.
Jointly owned by Sanford Health and CHI St. Alexius Health, CDHL employs approximately 19 team members and plays a critical role in supporting healthcare delivery by ensuring hospitals and healthcare facilities have access to high-quality, reliable linen services.
"Central Dakota Hospital Laundry has been a trusted partner in supporting healthcare delivery across North Dakota for decades,” said Todd Schaffer, M.D., President & CEO, Sanford Bismarck. “This investment ensures we can continue meeting the growing needs of hospitals and healthcare providers while maintaining the high level of quality and reliability our patients and caregivers depend on every day. We are excited to see this important project move forward and to support CDHL's continued growth and success."
"Reliable linen services are an essential part of providing safe, quality patient care, and Central Dakota Hospital Laundry plays a critical role in supporting healthcare organizations throughout our region,” said Reed Reyman, Ed.S., President, CHI St. Alexius Health Bismarck. “This expansion and modernization project reflects a strong commitment to the future and will help ensure healthcare facilities have the resources they need for years to come. We are proud to be part of this investment and celebrate this important milestone."
The expansion follows an exterior renovation completed approximately one year ago and reflects CDHL's ongoing commitment to growth, modernization and long-term sustainability. While the project will enhance services for the healthcare organizations that rely on CDHL, its primary focus is strengthening the organization's operations and ensuring it can continue to meet the evolving needs of healthcare providers throughout the region.
Once completed, the project will significantly expand CDHL's production capabilities, improve workflow efficiencies and support future growth, allowing the organization to continue serving as a vital healthcare partner for decades to come.
