Center for Family Medicine Appoints New Director of Mental Health

Center for Family Medicine announces that Dr. Aaron Bergman has joined the Sioux Falls Family Medicine Residency as the Director of Behavioral Health. Dr. Bergman is a graduate of Pacific University, and completed Residency at the National Psychology Training Consortium, Central Washington Family Medicine. His previous practice includes the University of Colorado School of Medicine, a large academic medical system with family medicine practices throughout Denver Metro area. Dr. Bergman completed additional training as a Research Fellow at the University of Massachusetts School of Medicine, Depts of Emergency Medicine, Psychiatry, and OB/GYN. Areas of special interest include perinatal mental health, primary care / family medicine psychology. 

Dr. Bergman joins the Faculty at the Sioux Falls Family Medicine Residency lead by Program Director Dr. Brad Kamstra. The Sioux Falls Family Medicine Residency was established in May, 1973, and has graduated over 400 residents to date. Seventy-five percent of these physicians practice in South Dakota and the contiguous states. The program is sponsored jointly by Avera McKennan and Sanford Health Hospitals and is affiliated with the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine. The residency is fully accredited and accepts ten residents per year.
