Columbus Community Hospital Receives Joint Commission Accreditation for Quality Care
Columbus Community Hospital has received accreditation from The Joint Commission, the nation’s leading accrediting body for health care organizations. This recognition highlights the hospital’s continued commitment to providing safe, high-quality care for patients and the community.
The accreditation follows an unannounced, comprehensive survey conducted Feb. 4-6. During this time, surveyors assessed CCH’s compliance with federal Medicare conditions and The Joint Commission’s standards for hospital operations.
The hospital successfully resolved two areas where it fell short — physical environment and infection control — through a detailed correction plan and a follow-up visit on March 14. Based on the evidence of standards compliance submitted May 8, The Joint Commission granted Columbus Community Hospital full accreditation for all surveyed services. Accreditation is effective dating back to Feb. 7 and valid for up to 36 months.
The Joint Commission’s decision also includes a recommendation for continued certification through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). This recommendation applies to Columbus Community Hospital and its affiliated locations: Premier Physical Therapy of Columbus, Columbus Community Hospital Rehab Services, Wiggles & Giggles Therapy for Kids and the Columbus Surgery Center.
“This achievement reflects the daily dedication of our doctors, staff and leadership team,” said Michael Hansen, Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and president/CEO of Columbus Community Hospital. “Accreditation from The Joint Commission assures our community that we are providing safe, effective and compassionate care — every patient, every time.”
“This process validates our commitment to infection prevention, patient safety and regulatory excellence,” added Dr. Mark Howerter, the hospital’s chief medical officer. “We are proud to meet the highest standards of care, and to demonstrate that our clinical teams are delivering quality outcomes in every department.”
