Hospital Invites Community Members to 2026 Ag Safety Event
Community members of all ages can learn more about the health and safety of our agricultural community at Columbus Community Hospital’s Ag Safety Event.
The event, which takes place from 7:30 a.m.-2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at the Columbus Fieldhouse, will feature several informational vendors and three speakers.
Dr. Aaron Yoder, associate professor with University of Nebraska Medical Center’s Department of Environmental, Agricultural & Occupational Health, will welcome those attending. Following his presentation, Ryan and June Loseke with Loseke Veterinary Services will offer a beef check-off update. Finally, Dr. Christopher Veale, a radiation oncologist with Columbus Cancer Care, will give an overview of radiation therapy.
Columbus Community Hospital’s Occupational Health Services will also offer various health screenings and services for free. Attendees can take advantage of free blood pressure, vision, bone mineral density and hearing screenings. Fasting wellness profiles, Prevnar 20 and Tdap vaccinations, and in-depth health screenings are available at a discounted rate. Additionally, Dr. Vilma Rodriguez-Cline will offer truck driver physicals during the event for $50 per exam. To schedule an appointment, call 402-562-4480.
Safety in paramount in a farming state such as Nebraska, said Rodriguez-Cline. “When you are operating tractors or any other farm equipment,” she stressed, “there can be many accidents. Learning how to prevent those accidents and taking that information back to work and home to use is very important.”
Danielle Frewing, director of Occupational Health Services at Columbus Community Hospital, said the event — now in its second year — offers many benefits for ag workers.
“From the truck driver screenings to Governor Pillen’s welcome, there is great value for everyone to attend this event,” she said. “This is the time for those in agricultural fields to get a wealth of information and health offerings at a discounted price, all in one place.”
Event sponsors include Alpha Media, Columbus Community Hospital, CVA, Farm Credit Services, GPS Bank, Pinnacle Bank, Union Bank and Trust, plus many others.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information on the Ag Safety Event, visit columbushosp.org.
