Columbus Community Hospital Hosts Diabetes Awareness Day on Oct. 2

If you want to learn more about diabetes, Columbus Community Hospital has just the event for you. Diabetes Awareness Day takes place from 4:30-7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2, in the hospital’s first-floor conference center. The event will include cooking demonstrations, informational booths and free and discounted screenings and immunizations.

Below are the screenings and immunizations that will be available from 4:30-6:30 p.m.:

  • A1c - $20

  • Fingerstick glucose – $10

  • Vision – free

  • Bone density – free

  • Blood pressure – free

  • Influenza immunization - $30

  • Prevnar 20 (pneumonia) vaccine - $278

Screenings will be provided by the hospital’s Occupational Health Services department, CCH staff and the Columbus Lions Club. For the A1c screenings, please call ahead at 402-562-4480 to register.

Informational sessions include:

  • 5-5:45 p.m. - “GLP medications, CGMs and insulin pumps for Type 2 diabetes” by Leah Haak Beck, PA-C, Faith Regional Physician Services Endocrinology

  • 6-7 p.m.  – “The Happy Diabetic” by Chef Robert Lewis, sponsored by GVOKE and CCH
