Carmen Hendrix, FNP-C, Joins Freeman Regional as Full-Time Provider

Freeman Regional Health Services is proud to announce that  Carmen Hendrix, FNP-C, has accepted a full-time position with our team. With a wealth of  experience and a strong commitment to rural healthcare, Carmen is prepared to make a  significant impact in the communities we serve. 

Carmen graduated from Marion High School in 2011 and completed her Licensed Practical  Nurse (LPN) education at Southeast Technical College in 2013. She continued her studies at  Southeast Technical College, earning her LPN to RN associate degree in 2015, followed by an  Associate to Bachelor’s RN program at the University of South Dakota. Over the years, Carmen  has gained valuable experience in family medicine, long-term care, urgent care, and medical surgical nursing. 

Carmen spent seven years at Freeman Regional as a hospital and ER nurse, where she  developed a deep understanding of patient care in various settings. In 2020, she earned her  Master’s Degree in Nursing from Mount Marty College. Since then, she has applied her Nurse  Practitioner (NP) skills across several areas, including hospitalist, cardiology, family practice,  urgent care, and emergency medicine. Throughout her career, Carmen has maintained her role  at Freeman Regional, contributing to the clinic, hospital, and ER. 

Carmen is passionate about serving rural communities and is pursuing a post master’s certificate  in psychiatry and mental health. This additional training will equip her to provide essential  psychiatric services to the populations we serve. 

Outside of her professional life, Carmen enjoys spending quality time with her three boys, who  attend school in Parker, SD. She loves being outdoors, swimming, traveling, and fostering pets.
