Bethany Gifford Receives Service Over Self Award

Bethany Gifford, RN, MSN

Columbus Community Hospital is proud to recognize Bethany Gifford, RN, MSN, as its second quarter Service Over Self Award recipient for 2026.

Gifford works as an emergency department nurse at the hospital, and she is also an instructor in the nursing program at Central Community College. She was nominated by Dani Bayer, RN, BSN, for her exceptional volunteer service and dedication to supporting the communities she serves.

Outside the hospital, Gifford gives her time to several organizations and programs. She has served with the Silver Creek Ambulance Service for 10 years as a first responder and for three years as captain. She teaches first aid to camp counselors and serves as the health care provider at her children’s summer camp, spending multiple weeks each summer supporting campers and staff. She also volunteers as a basic life support instructor for Silver Creek Fire and Ambulance Services, waiving her instructor fee, and contributes her time to committees at both CCH and Central Community College.

In her nomination, Bayer highlighted Gifford’s compassion, leadership and steady commitment to others. She described her as “one of those gems” — someone who brings a positive attitude to every role she holds and inspires those around her through her service.

Columbus Community Hospital presented the Service Over Self Award to Gifford on June 3.

The Service Over Self Award is open to all CCH staff members. To make a submission, send your nominee’s volunteer story to bridges@columbushosp.org.

This award is brought to CCH through the Pathway to Excellence® program, which recognizes hospitals that create a positive working environment for nurses.
