Avera@Home Of Spencer Hospital Recognized In Top 5% Nationally

When hospice services are needed, you want the best in quality care and compassionate services. Avera@Home of Spencer Hospital is known for doing both and has the satisfaction scores to prove it.

Avera@Home of Spencer Hospital received notification this week that its services are being recognized by Strategic Healthcare Programs (SHP) as a “Premier Performer” for achieving an overall caregiver and family satisfaction score that ranked in the top 5% of all eligible SHP clients for the 2022 calendar year.

“It’s so exciting and rewarding to be recognized for our team’s daily commitment to providing each patient and their loved ones with individualized end-of-life care,” said Alana Clark, director of Avera@Home of Spencer Hospital.

The annual SHP Best award program acknowledges hospice providers that consistently provide high quality service to families and caregivers of patients receiving hospice care. The 2022 award recipients were determined by reviewing and ranking the overall Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and systems (CAHPS) Hospice survey satisfaction score for more than 1,000 hospice providers.

“We’re so proud of our hospice team,” commented Bill Bumgarner, Spencer Hospital president. “The method of using the nationally standardized CAHPS survey scores, which are also the standard for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid, assures objectivity in this premier performer ranking. It’s great to see our team recognized for their exceptional care.”

Brenda Tiefenthaler, Senior VP of Patient Care & Operations, shared: “Avera@Home of Spencer Hospital cares for people of any age who are suffering from any terminal illness, keeping individuals and their unique life stories at the heart of its mission. Established in 1985 to give Northwest Iowa a compassionate alternative to traditional end-of-life care, Avera@Home of Spencer Hospital has grown into a strong volunteer organization and a thriving community resource. We treat people wherever they need care - in home, in a care facility or within our hospital.”

Rob Paulsson, President of SHP, stated, “SHP is proud to present the SHPBest awards to our top-performing customers. We commend these organizations for their continuous focus on delivering the highest quality of care to their patients.”
