Amanda Miller
Amanda Miller, APRN, Great Plains Health Callahan Cancer Center, is the Great Plains Health Caring Kind Award recipient for 2026.
A longstanding tradition of the Nebraska Hospital Association (NHA), the award pays tribute to outstanding healthcare employees who have demonstrated compassion for patients, cooperation with coworkers and dedication to excellence in the role they play at their facility.
Each year, NHA member hospitals and healthcare systems select one person from their organization to recognize at the NHA’s annual convention and special awards luncheon in October.
Miller first joined the Callahan Cancer Center 13 years ago as a registered nurse. While caring for patients, she continued her education and earned her APRN credentials four years ago. Since then, she has provided compassionate cancer care in North Platte and outreach clinics across the region, bringing a calm and steady presence to patients and families.
“Amanda’s passion for serving cancer patients and their families is evident,” said Lisa Kosmacek, director of the Callahan Cancer Center.
Caring for others runs in the family. Amanda’s father, Doug Long, was also a past recipient of the award, reflecting a family legacy of service.
“It is always meaningful to recognize individuals who make such an impact on the lives of others,” said Ivan Mitchell, CEO. “We are grateful for the dedication and exceptional care Amanda has provided to patients across the region for more than a decade.”
Around 3,000 caring, skilled and dedicated healthcare professionals have received this award since its inception in 1979. The award program highlights the exemplary work and care hospital employees provide every day throughout the year.
