Learn the Importance of Advance Care Planning at Lunch & Learn

Throughout your health care journey, you will make choices that impact your life in various ways. But not every option is right for everyone. Advance care planning puts you in the driver’s seat.

Columbus Community Hospital is offering a free Lunch & Learn featuring Dr. Mark Howerter, the hospital’s chief medical officer. He will discuss the importance of advance care planning and why it’s vital to inform your loved ones and health care providers about what matters most to you.

“Advance care planning helps ensure that future medical treatment conforms with a person’s beliefs and values,” Howerter said. “It also helps people get the full spectrum of care they want and protects against excessive, unwanted treatment.”

The event will be at noon on Thursday, April 16, in the Pawnee and Pioneer rooms at Columbus Community Hospital. Howerter will also address advance care planning from a provider’s perspective. Following the presentation, he will answer questions from audience members.

Participants should register for the event by Tuesday, April 14, by calling 402-562-3380 or visiting columbushosp.org. Registration includes a light lunch.

You may choose to attend in person or via Zoom. A link to the Zoom event is available online at columbushosp.org.
