A Construction Project At MercyOne Siouxland Will Temporarily Close 5th Street For Two Days

A construction project at MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center will cause a temporary closure of a portion of 5th Street for two days starting on Thursday, February 1, 2024.

The installation of a new surgery air handling system will begin Thursday morning with the crane's arrival. Crews will be using the crane to lift materials onto the roof of the south building starting in the afternoon. Work is scheduled to conclude on Friday.

All three lanes of traffic on 5th Street, starting past the entrance of the circle drive to Jennings Street, will be closed from Feb. 1 to Feb. 2. Traffic will be able to enter the circle drive and the parking ramp. Anyone entering the circle drive will have to exit through the parking ramp back onto 5th Street and then turn right on Jones Street to exit 5th Street.

A second lift for the project will begin in approximately two to three weeks and will take three days.
