42nd Annual Roger Maris Celebrity Golf Tournament Returns During All-Star Week Presented by Happy Harry’s Bottle Shops
The Roger Maris Celebrity Golf Tournament, presented by Happy Harry’s Bottle Shops, tees off for the 42nd time on Thursday, June 19, at Rose Creek Golf Course. The event features both 9 and 18-hole golf tournaments.
The Edith Sanford 9-Hole Golf Scramble, presented by Happy Harry’s Bottle Shops, is a pink-themed event that tees off at 8 a.m. at Rose Creek Golf Course and will help support innovative breast cancer research and patient care. The Edith Sanford 9-hole Scramble will feature specialty coffee, a photo station, contests and prizes, swag bags and appearances by celebrities. Both men and women are encouraged to wear pink. Cost is $700 per team.
The 18-hole Roger Maris Celebrity Golf Tournament is also at Rose Creek Golf Course. Registration is at 11 a.m. and tee time is at 12 p.m. Cost is $1,300 per team.

Scott Hamilton won a gold medal in men’s figure skating in the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo. Hamilton won four consecutive World Championships (1981-1984), as well as four consecutive U.S. Championships (1981-1984). In 1997, Hamilton was diagnosed with testicular cancer and has battled brain tumors on three separate occasions. Hamilton founded the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation to assist with cancer patient support.
Chad Greenway played his entire 11-year NFL career with the Minnesota Vikings. Greenway is a two-time Pro Bowler and led the National Football Conference (NFC) in combined tackles in 2010. Greenway is a two-time Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee, given annually honoring a player’s volunteer and charity work, as well as excellence on the field.
Chris Klieman is the former head football coach at Kansas State University (K-State) and North Dakota State University (NDSU). At K-State, Klieman collected a 54-34 record over seven seasons, making him the second winningest coach in Wildcats history. At NDSU, Klieman finished with a 69-6 recorded, winning NCAA FCS National Championships in four out of five seasons.
Phil Hansen played all 11 seasons of his NFL career with the Buffalo Bills, and he is third on the Bills all-time list with 61.5 career sacks. In 2011, he was inducted into the Buffalo Bills Wall of Fame. Hansen, an Oakes, N.D. native, starred collegiately at North Dakota State University, and in 2004, was inducted into the NCAA Division II Hall of Fame. Hansen helped lead the Bison to NCAA Division II National Championships in 1988 and 1990.
Gene Taylor is the director of athletics at K-State, and he also served as the director of athletics at NDSU for 13 years. Taylor was named the eighth-best athletic director among FBS programs by Stadium in 2020.
Other local celebrities to attend the Edith Sanford 9-hole Golf Tournament and Roger Maris Celebrity Golf tournament include NDSU women’s basketball players Avery Koenen and Jocelyn Schiller, as well as University of North Dakota defensemen E.J. Emery.
Roger Maris All-Star Week was created to support the work happening at the cancer center, honor loved ones, friends and neighbors affected by cancer, promote Roger’s passion for fitness and youth sports and celebrate the enduring legacy of hometown hero, Roger Maris.
