2024 Hospital Heroes: Ann Reid of Community Memorial Hospital, Sumner
Since 2007, IHA’s Hospital Heroes program has celebrated employees who have acted courageously in a moment’s crisis or selflessly served their hospitals and communities throughout their careers. Last month, IHA presented 11 Hospital Heroes awards at its annual meeting.
Ann Reid’s dedication and extraordinary skills have profoundly affected the community. As a provider at Community Memorial Hospital for the past eight years, Reid has demonstrated a commitment to patient care that is nothing short of heroic. Her clinical leadership, whether in the emergency department or as a trauma coordinator, ensures that Community Memorial Hospital delivers care on par with larger hospitals. Reid’s calm, steady demeanor in even the most critical situations, such as a challenging pediatric trauma, has been instrumental in saving lives and easing the fears of patients and their families.
Reid's contributions extend far beyond patient care. Her passion for continuous improvement drives her to mentor staff, coordinate training and ensure the hospital is always prepared to provide high-quality care. Whether it’s picking up extra shifts, serving as interim director of nursing or creating beautiful quilts and delicious desserts to lift her colleagues' spirits, Reid embodies the spirit of service in every aspect of her life. Her dedication, compassion and generosity inspire others to strive daily for excellence in patient care.
