Vikki Mihulka Receives Outstanding Volunteer Of The Year Award

Vikki Mihulka

Columbus Community Hospital has chosen Vikki Mihulka for the 2023 Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award.

The award recognizes and celebrates volunteers who have gone above and beyond to help Columbus Community Hospital and its patients, patients' families, visitors, departments and staff. The hospital recognizes one of its volunteers with this special honor each year.

Mihulka worked as a registered nurse for more than 40 years, many of which were at CCH. During this time, she volunteered for the hospital while also working full time, and increased her service following her retirement in 2020. Mihulka currently serves as a patient care ambassador and nurse corps representative. She also assists with Meals on Wheels, diabetes education events and nursing education programs. When she is not volunteering for the hospital, Mihulka can be found working on various outreach programs for Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus.

An anonymous individual nominated Mihulka for the award, noting the countless times Mihulka has been available for family and friends to help with physical, medical or emotional situations.

The nomination letter stated, "I nominate Vikki because when I look at her, I see who I want to be. She does not seek recognition or want attention diverted to her; she is genuine and an extraordinary individual."

Mihulka received the Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award at the hospital's annual volunteer recognition event on Thursday, April 18, in conjunction with National Healthcare Volunteer Recognition Week.

The Volunteer of the Year Award is open to all hospital volunteers. To submit your nomination for the 2024 award, send your nominee's volunteer story to cchvolunteers@columbushosp.org<mailto:cchvolunteers@columbushosp.org> or visit columbushosp.org.
