Sanford Health Hosting Sports Physical Clinics

Sanford Health is hosting a pair of sports physical clinics to make sure young athletes are fit and ready to play ahead of the upcoming sports season.

The sports physical clinics are taking place on Saturday, May 7, and Saturday, May 14, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sanford Veterans Square Clinic, 3955 56th St. S., Fargo. In addition to sports physicals, wellness exams and needed immunizations are also available to everyone at the clinics.

The sports physical clinics are for student-athletes in college, high school and younger. Parental permission is needed for anyone under the age of 18. The sports physicals are available by appointment only. To make an appointment, call 701-234-8830. There is a $50 prepay cost for the sports physical; wellness exams and immunizations will go through insurance.

Sports physicals give a doctor a chance to look at health issues that could arise during game time. Sanford doctors will check your athlete’s basic health, look for cardiovascular and lung problems, evaluate old injuries and answer any health care questions.

Sports physicals also provides an educational opportunity for both student-athletes and parents. Sanford doctors will tell you how to recognize signs of concussion symptoms and other sports injuries, recommend stretching routines and offer tips for healthy eating.
