New Medical Oncologist & Hematologist Joins June E. Nylen Cancer Center

The June E. Nylen Cancer Center (JENCC) is excited to welcome a new medical oncologist and hematologist, Dr. Behzad Mowlazadeh, who has been in practice for more than 28 years as a medical oncologist and hematologist serving Veterans as a front-line clinician. He joined the June E. Nylen Cancer Center from the Bay Pines Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in St. Petersburg, Florida where he served as Chief of Hematology and Oncology.

In addition to a distinguished career in oncology and hematology serving Veterans, Dr. Mowlazadeh is also proud of the fact he was an Assistant Professor at Eastern Virginia Medical School and has been Principal Investigator for many cancer clinical trials.

Dr. Mowlazadeh is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology. He completed his fellowships at the Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation at Manitoba University in Winnipeg, (Manitoba) Canada, and the Leukemia and Bone Marrow Transplant at the University of British Columbia at Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver, (British Columbia) Canada. Dr. Mowlazadeh completed his residency at St. Barnabas Hospital in Bronx, New York, and his medical school at Shaheed Beheshti University in Teheran, Iran.

“My goal is to partner with each of my cancer patients and become their team member to alleviate their suffering,” says Dr. Behzad Mowlazadeh. “I always try to make sure a patient feels that they are not alone in this struggle. I am compassionate and understanding of the emotions they are going through and I am truly focused on my patient’s hope and healing.”
