Is Your Car Seat Safe?

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car and booster seats protect infants and children in a crash. Yet, car crashes are still a leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 13 in the United States. That's why it’s important to choose and use the right car seat every time your child is in the car. But how do you know if you correctly installed your child's car seat?

Columbus Community Hospital is partnering with Columbus Motor Company to provide free car seat checks on Wednesday, May 8, from 4-7 p.m. The event takes place at Columbus Motor Company, 2806 23rd St. in Columbus.

During the checks, certified technicians will teach caregivers about proper car seat installation and how to secure a child in a car seat. They will also check to ensure caregivers use appropriate seats for their children, and that there are no recalls on the car seat.

Checks will be on a first-come, first-served basis. You do not need to schedule an appointment. Spanish interpreters will be available.
