Huron Regional Medical Center Honors Moscoso as October Exceptional Employee

Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) honored its October Exceptional Employee of the Month, Sixto Moscoso, earlier this month.

Moscoso, who has worked in environmental services at HRMC for nearly one year, was nominated by a coworker. “In his short time at HRMC, Sixto has made a strong impression on not only fellow employees, but the patients and families that come through the doors of the hospital as well,” according to the nomination.

“He comes to work with an attitude and smile brighter than the sun,” the nomination continued. Another noted, “Sixto is welcoming and friendly to everyone he meets in the hallways, never shying away from saying good morning or asking others how their day is going.”

HRMC’s Exceptional Employee of the Month award recognizes an employee who goes above and beyond to demonstrate the hospital’s values of being accessible, helpful and knowledgeable. Employees can be nominated by coworkers or by a patient or visitor who witnesses exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments chooses an awardee on a monthly basis and an Exceptional Employee of the Year is chosen at year-end from the 12 monthly honorees.

As October exceptional employee, Moscoso received a candy bouquet, a meal certificate to a local restaurant, a professional photo session and portrait, $50, a lapel pin and a special parking place for a month. “I’m thankful to everyone here for their kindness,” stated Moscoso upon receiving the award. He expressed thanks to his environmental services co-workers and director, Lori Gross, for their work as a team.

A native of Ecuador, Moscoso moved to New York in his youth, where he graduated high school and began his career in healthcare.  He attended nursing school and worked in various roles in hospitals, including pharmacy supply delivery and housekeeping. Moscoso moved to Huron following his retirement and joined the HRMC environmental services team to stay busy. In his spare time, Moscoso enjoys watching instructional or motivational television shows, doing daily chores and tasks, and spending time with his wife, Sonia, who works as a laundry technician at HRMC.
