HRMC Physicians Clinic Orthopedics Welcomes Dr. Kevin Hofer

Kevin Hofer, MD, orthopedic surgeon, has joined the Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) medical staff, according to Erick Larson, president and CEO for HRMC.

Dr. Hofer is set to begin practice at the HRMC Physicians Clinic on August 21, offering general orthopedic and sports medicine. Dr. Hofer joins Todd Anderson, MD, orthopedic surgeon, at the Physicians Clinic, expanding the availability and range of orthopedic services in Huron.

HRMC will now offer Mako robotic-arm assisted surgery for hip and knee replacements. Robotic-arm assisted surgery allows specially trained orthopedic surgeons to create a 3-D, virtual model of each patient’s unique joint. During the procedure, the robotic arm guides the surgeon to the predetermined area to prepare the bone for implant, resulting in a precise and better-aligned knee replacement.

“Dr. Hofer brings experience in the latest surgical technologies in orthopedics, allowing us to expand advanced orthopedic care to the community,” said Larson. “His expertise paired with a

sincere desire to care for the people in his hometown are just a few of the reasons we’re so excited about him joining the team at HRMC.”

Dr. Hofer earned his Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees in Biology from Augustana University in Sioux Falls. In 2018, he earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of South Dakota

Sanford School of Medicine in Vermillion, where he was vice president of his class. In June, he completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.

“I’m thrilled to be able to fill a need for full-time orthopedic surgery and help people in the community get care close to home,” said Dr. Hofer. “I’m very excited to be back home seeing patients.”

A native of Huron, Dr. Hofer returned to the community earlier this summer with his family, including wife, Stephanie, who is a nurse at the HRMC Physicians Clinic and their two sons, Maverick, age four, and Wesson, age one.

Dr. Hofer is welcoming patients via direct appointment and referral. Appointments can be made by calling the HRMC Physicians Clinic at 605-353-7660, option 5, after first choosing your preferred language.  You can also request an appointment online at www.hrmcphysiciansclinic.org.
