Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) Invites Community For Love Your Heart Luncheon

In recognition of American Heart month, Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) is encouraging community members to protect themselves from the effects of heart attack or stroke through education and prevention.

Dr. Naveen Rajpurohit, cardiologist with Sanford Health who provides outreach services at HRMC Specialty Clinics, will provide a “Love your Heart” presentation on Tuesday, February 20 at 12:00 p.m., at the HRMC Legacy Plaza at 110 4th Street SE. A light lunch will be offered to those who register by Thursday, February 15. Dr. Naveen will share information about heart healthy choices, cholesterol and blood pressure maintenance, and management of cardiovascular disease. HRMC will offer basic cardiac risk assessments including blood pressure checks at the event. RSVP by scanning the QR code or call 605-353-6315 to sign up.

The best protection against heart attack or stroke is to be aware of your risks, know the signs and symptoms of heart disease and the steps you can take to reduce your risk. Having an annual physical is a good place to start, with blood pressure checks beginning annually at age 20 and cholesterol testing every five years, depending on health and family history.
