Crete Area Health Care Foundation’s Annual Care And Share Campaign Is An Ongoing Success

The generosity of Crete area residents and medical center employees once again pushed the annual Care and Share campaign to success.  On September 14, 2023, the Crete Area Health Care Foundation Board of Directors presented a check of $33,332.50 to the Crete Area Medical Center for a new ultrasound machine that is used throughout multiple areas of the hospital. The dollars came from a combination of funds raised during this year’s campaign and excess funds from previous care and share campaigns.

“This generous gift will have a lasting impact on how we serve our patients and provide lifesaving care. The community and the Foundation’s support is greatly appreciated,” said Stephanie Boldt, CAMC President and CEO.

At Crete Area Medical Center, we strive to bring the highest level of quality care to our patients. As we continue to expand our surgical and specialty services brought forth by the recently completed expansion and renovation, we have continually sought to provide exceptional care to our community. We recognize that this includes utilizing state-of-the-art equipment.

With a second operating room comes additional needs, which is why this year’s Crete Area Health Care Foundation’s Care and Share campaign raised funds to purchase a new state-of-the-art ultrasound machine. This machine is utilized in the new Lambert L. Zoubek Surgery Wing operating rooms, our emergency department, the new Labor and Delivery Suites, and throughout our outpatient specialty clinic. An ultrasound machine is an imaging method that uses sound waves to produce images of structures within your body. The images can provide valuable information for diagnosing and directing treatment for a variety of diseases and conditions.

“Ultrasound technology is a vital tool in clinical spaces, providing valuable real-time imaging aid in the diagnosis and treatment of emergency department patients and obstetric patients," said April Gaines, CAMC Chief Nursing Officer. "Our anesthesia department also uses this equipment to aid in the process of providing nerve blocks for patients. Most recently we have been training some of our nursing staff in ultrasound-guided IV placement, and they will also be able to take advantage of the use of this device. Ultrasound technology is non-invasive and helps guide medical professionals to make informed decisions and improve patient outcomes.”

The Philips Sparq Point-Of-Care Ultrasound System provides Crete Area Medical Center with the capability to achieve an even higher level of clinical excellence and streamlined care. The Sparq Ultrasound System was chosen for its ease of use. Breakthrough technology should not make care more complex but should remove the complexities that create barriers to doing what matters most: providing the best care possible for our patients.

“A new ultrasound machine ensures that surgical patients are able to receive regional anesthesia which will lead to decreased post-operative pain. This will help contribute to a great surgical experience for the patients at Crete Area Medical Center,” said Mitch Ebke, CAMC Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.

The Crete Area Health Care Foundation continually strives to improve health care in Crete and surrounding areas. Since its inception, the Foundation has granted more than $3.5 million toward the purchase of medical equipment and professional development scholarships. We manage a long-term endowment fund and donate countless hours of volunteer service to support education and outreach in our communities.

Our patients, employees, and area community members are our primary beneficiaries. All monies raised are reinvested locally and designated for the advancement of Crete Area Medical Center and the Crete, Friend, and Wilber Medical Clinics.
