Columbus Community Hospital Has A Positive Impact On City’s Fiscal Health

Columbus Community Hospital’s commitment to health extends far beyond the hospital walls. Through its traditional health care services, fitness and wellness programs, telehealth technology and community partnerships, CCH’s impact on the community’s fiscal health is undeniable.

A recent analysis by the Heartland Health Alliance breaks down the hospital’s economic impact through its:

  • Direct impact: The direct impact on the state of Nebraska.

  • Indirect impact: The impact on jobs and wages created in other industries that support the hospital’s operations.

  • Induced impact: The impact of employee spending in the community.

The analysis found that the hospital’s direct impact created approximately 897 jobs and generated more than $129 million in revenue, which resulted in more than $2.4 million in state and local taxes in 2022.

The indirect impact provided more than 359 jobs and created more than $60 million in downstream business, such as contractors, linen services and visitor spending at restaurants and hotels. This impact resulted in more than $1.9 million in state and local taxes.

CCH’s induced impact produced more than 398 jobs, resulting in more than $62 million in revenue and $3.2 million in state and local taxes.

These combined impact areas created more than 1,655 jobs, approximately $252 million in revenue and more than $7.6 million in state and local taxes.
