Commercial Estimator (Full-Time) - Plumbing & Heating Wholesale, Inc.

Commercial Estimator: Any P&H Location

Hours: Monday - Friday (7AM to 5PM)

Job Description: The Commercial Estimator will increase sales and customer satisfaction by timely providing customers with quotations and assisting with any questions pertaining to the quotations.  They will also work cooperatively with outside sales and other members of the distribution team to grow existing customers, create new customers and meet or exceed monthly sales quotas at the appropriate gross margin while increasing customer satisfaction.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Obtain and select construction open bid reports for estimation purposes.

  • Obtain current costs of products.

  • Maintain an orderly quotation file and record of jobs estimated.

  • Receive calls and offer service or phone estimates to customers.

  • Actively assist customers by recommending new products or suggesting alternatives.

  • Regularly attend sales meetings.

  • Maintain technical and computer capability to effectively use estimation and submittal builder software, distribution and office software, and other information resources.

  • Deliver timely, well-prepared, and professional estimates and submittals.

  • Coordinate the ordering, receiving and delivery of products in a timely manner.

  • Generate new and repeat sales by providing product and technical information in a timely manner.

  • Determine customer requirements and expectations to recommend specific products and solutions.

  • Recommend alternate products based on cost, availability, or specifications.

  • Present price, credit, and terms in accordance with standard procedures and customers’ profitability profile.

  • Accurately process customer transactions such as orders, quotes, or returns.

  • Accuracy and attention to fine details.

  • Provide accurate information regarding availability of in-stock items.

  • Obtain accurate information from vendors relating to shipment dates and expected date of delivery.

  • Increase sales and average order size by means of cross-selling, up-selling, add-on sales and offering promotional sale items.

  • Educate customers about terminology, features and benefits of products to improve product related sales and customer satisfaction.

  • Monitor scheduled shipment dates to ensure timely delivery and expedite as needed.

  • Contact customers following sales to ensure ongoing customer satisfaction and resolve any complaints.

  • Fill requests for catalogs, information, or samples.

  • Remain current on consumer preferences by attending sales meetings, vendor training, trade shows, or reading trade journals.

  • Manage time effectively, meet personal goals and work effectively with other members of the distribution team.

  • Communicate to the purchasing department unexpected increases or decreases in demand for products.

  • Work with PHW Product Review Committee (PRC) to evaluate and make new product recommendations.

  • Follow company policies and procedures.

  • Review and understand company ethics policies.

  • Practice honesty and integrity in customer and vendor relations.

  • Understand terms and conditions of sales and the extent of liability and responsibility.

  • Communicate and interact professionally with other employees.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Education:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

  • Associate Degree or bachelor's degree in related field preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum two years in similar position and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

  • Minimum one to two years in progressive position.

  • Product/applications experience required.

  • Wholesale distribution experience preferred.
