Hospital Receives Grant For Columbus Sports Performance Center

The Columbus Community Hospital Foundation recently received a $600 grant from the Cornhusker Power Goodwill Fund. The grant will support the Columbus Sports Performance Center, which is located inside the Columbus Fieldhouse.

The foundation will use the funds to purchase two Game Ready GRPRO 2.1 systems, which provide compression and cryotherapy for injuries and help athletes recover.

“We are very grateful for the funding from the Cornhusker Power Goodwill Fund,” said Cori Fullner, executive director of the CCH Foundation. “It enables us to provide the latest technology and equipment, offering community members a state-of-the-art experience each time they visit the facility.”

The money for the fund is collected from nearly 56% of Cornhusker Public Power District customers, who voluntarily agree to have their electric bill rounded up to the next highest dollar. Funding from the Cornhusker Power Goodwill Fund is available to organizations within the counties served by Cornhusker Public Power District — Platte, Boone, Nance, Colfax, Greeley and Wheeler.

“The health and safety of our local athletes remains one of our top priorities,” said Rob Marshall, director of the Columbus Fieldhouse. “We are thankful for organizations like Cornhusker Power that recognize the importance of safety in athletics, and help provide us with the necessary tools to assist in the recovery process.”

The Columbus Sports Performance Center will operate out of the Columbus Fieldhouse. In addition to the amenities already available at the fieldhouse, the sports performance center offers one-on-one personalized training and high-performance training groups for local athletes.

Construction at the fieldhouse continues to progress on schedule. It will open in January 2024.
