Essentia Health-Casselton Clinic Welcomes Family Medicine Specialist April Rohrer

The Essentia Health-Casselton Clinic is proud to welcome April Rohrer, an advanced practice registered nurse and certified nurse practitioner specializing in family medicine.

“When it came time to finding a nurse practitioner position, I knew I had to stay with Essentia Health,” explained Rohrer, who has worked for Essentia for almost 16 years, beginning as a nurse aide in the emergency room. “I waited almost a year for the right spot to open instead of leaving. I have been around for many changes in the organization and am proud to say I work for Essentia. I wanted to continue working here because I truly believe we live by our values with our patients and there really is nowhere else that can compare.”

Rohrer received her medical education from Concordia University Wisconsin in Mequon, Wisconsin. She is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

“As a medic in the Army National Guard, I always had the desire to know more and, in return, be able to “do more” for others,” said Rohrer. “After my medic days were over, I went on to LPN school, and then completed my RN and BSN. While I was content at that time in my career, I still had this void I couldn’t figure out. After talking with some other providers and hearing stories about the lack of primary care, especially in rural communities, I was drawn to completing my family nurse practitioner.”

“I am most interested in developing relationships with my patients and their families, and to work with them throughout their lifespan,” she added. “Health is more than just about the medicines given to treat diseases. I believe the mind is just as important as the body, and through effective communication and these developing relationships I can help my patients achieve great health.”
