Panel: Population Health...Why it Matters
The leading causes of death and illness in South Dakota adults are heart disease and cancer. Access to and the availability of resources to enrich one’s quality of life, social engagement, and health behavior patterns are affected by where people live, work, play, and learn. Strategic active partnerships using a multi-sector approach can yield new ways to build capacity and pool resources, including the data, skills, and knowledge needed to achieve healthier communities. SLM Consulting, LLC is sponsoring an opportunity to learn from and engage leading public health professionals from a range of sectors, including research, community, worksite, healthcare, and organizations focused on population health. Panelists will discuss why population health matters, population health trends within their respective sectors, and highlight opportunities to engage in a multi-sector approach to improve the health of South Dakotans. Panelists will underscore the factors that affect health beyond just health behaviors.
