MercyOne Dakota Dunes Breast Care Earns American College of Radiology AccreditationOct 20, 2021 09:45AM ● By Med Magazine
MercyOne Dakota Dunes Breast Care Center is excited to announce it has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in mammography as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR). Mammography is a specific type of imaging test that uses a low-dose X-ray system to exam breasts. It’s used to aid in the early detection and diagnosis of breast disease in women.
“We are so honored to receive the ACR gold seal of accreditation. said Dr. Adnan Qalbani, board certified radiologist and medical director at MercyOne Dakota Dunes Breast Care Center. “Nearly one in eight women in the United States will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. Mammograms are still the best way to identify breast cancer early, when it’s most treatable.”
The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. MercyOne Dakota Dunes Breast Care Center is the only ACR Breast Center of Excellence in the tri-state area representing accreditation in mammography, ultrasound, stereotactic biopsy and breast MRI.
“We are committed to personalized care to help meet every woman’s unique needs with confidence and compassion. said Dr. Qalbani. “This can be a scary moment in a lot of women’s lives. We want to make sure we do everything we can, to make them as comfortable as possible while also giving them the best care possible.”
Experts advise women perform regular breast self-examination and receive annual mammograms, starting at age 40, unless there is a family history of breast cancer.
