Three new members were recently elected to the Board of Directors for the Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society, the nation’s largest non-profit provider of senior care and support services.
The new members include Rev. Linda Norman who serves as the chief financial officer and vice president of administration at Mission Investment Fund of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA); Helen Melland, former Dean of the College of Nursing at Montana State University and Traci Woolfolk, who is a Good Samaritan Society administrator for home and community-based services in Fort Worth, Texas.
“We are excited to welcome Rev. Linda Norman, Helen Melland and Traci Woolfolk to the Board of Directors,” said Randy Bury, president and CEO of the Good Samaritan Society. “Their diverse perspectives and expertise will bring tremendous value to the Good Samaritan Society. The long-term care industry faces unprecedented challenges and opportunities as we emerge from the pandemic, and I am confident their contributions will help us shape the future of care for our nation’s seniors and the heroes working on the frontlines who care for them.”

inviting me to love and serve both God and neighbor,” said Rev. Linda Norman. “Caring for our elders and their families and health workers is a sacred trust.”
“As a nurse on the Board, I have a responsibility to be a leader as discussions occur and policies evolve that will assure quality care for all whom the Society serves in the post-pandemic, rapidly-changing world of health care,” said Helen Melland. “I’m a nurse who is committed to always doing all I can to promote, maintain and restore the health of all people, especially vulnerable groups.”
“Serving on the Board provides a unique environment for me to further my natural inclination to serve,” said Traci Woolfolk. “It not only means I get to help promote our mission but it will also provide me the opportunity to listen and learn more about the organization I work for at a deeper level.”
Scott Petersen has been named chair of the Board. Petersen has served on the Good Samaritan Society’s Board of Directors since 2018 and is the former CEO of LodgeNet.
The Good Samaritan Society Board of Directors includes the Good Samaritan Society’s president, six Good Samaritan Society administrators and nine individuals from the larger community who bring to the Board a wide range of experiences and professional experience. Board members are elected at the annual meeting of the Society and are eligible for election to two consecutive three-year terms.
