Huron Regional Medical Center announces the appointment of Ruth Anne Brott, ASCP certified medical laboratory scientist (MLS), as the new laboratory director for HRMC.
In her new role, Brott is responsible for the technical and scientific oversight of HRMC’s laboratory, as well as supervision and evaluation of the capabilities of testing personnel. She also works with medical staff and other hospital departments to ensure quality, safe, efficient and accurate testing services with the end goal of providing clear diagnosis and treatment options for patients.
Brott has 31 years of lab experience, including managing all areas of a multispecialty clinic laboratory. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, and graduated from the Sioux Valley School of Medical Technology in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Brott also holds an associate degree in Arts and Bible from Northwestern College in St. Paul, MN.
Prior to joining HRMC in May, Brott was the laboratory manager for the Grand Island Clinic in Grand Island, Nebraska, where she has worked since 1994. In addition to managing the lab, she also served as health information manager, implementing and managing Meaningful Use and Quality Payment Program options for the medical providers at the clinic.
Brott and her husband, Tony, are not strangers to Huron, having graduated from James Valley Christian High School and her parents, Craig and Dorothy Harmon, still live in the community.
“I am excited to be back in Huron and use my experience, knowledge and skills to provide excellent diagnostic lab services in the region,” said Brott. “I look forward to working with the lab team here to find ways to help our physicians and staff continue to improve the health of our community.”
Brott has two grown children: Liz and Andrew.
