Jun 05, 2021 09:33AM ● By Med Magazine

The Suzanne Jacobson Memorial Fund Committee has designated June 7-11, 2021 as Yellow Rose Week in Northeastern South Dakota. Yellow Rose Week is the primary means of financing the Suzanne Jacobson Memorial Fund (SJMF), a service of the Prairie Lakes Healthcare Foundation. The SJMF provides financial assistance to people within our region who have been diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses and are in need of financial assistance due to a medical crisis.

Since its inception in 1999, the SJMF has provided over $420,000 through more than 800 grants.

Suzanne Jacobson spent her adult life as a physician’s assistant positively impacting the lives of many through her care and professionalism. She lost a battle with cancer in 1998. Her family and friends established this fund to honor her memory.

Applications are confidentially reviewed by a local committee. Grants provide assistance with the cost of medications, transportation, rent, utilities, and groceries.

This year, as we celebrate our 22nd anniversary, we honor long time volunteers, Dorett & Arvis Raml and Patti Linngren, who passed away this last year. Dorett, Arvis, and Patti assisted with Yellow Rose Week and their dedication and passion for the Suzanne Jacobson Memorial Fund was inspiring.  We miss each of them dearly.
