Sanford Health Hosts Free Presentation on the Effects of COVID-19 on the Heart

Feb 10, 2021 03:45PM ● By Med Magazine

Sanford Health will be hosting a free virtual presentation on the many ways a COVID-19 infection can affect the heart, especially in those with preexisting heart conditions. The presentation will take place via Webex on Thursday, Feb. 18 at 6 p.m. central time.

“The pandemic itself has caused quite a bit of stress, and stress can cause heart attacks,” said Stephen Boateng, DO, cardiologist at Sanford Health in Bismarck. “For those who have been infected with COVID, there can be some residual and lasting effects on the heart, especially if there are underlying heart conditions.”

COVID-19 has shown it can have short and long-term effects on the heart including inflammation in the heart and clots in the arteries. Join Dr. Boateng virtually on Feb. 18 as he shares important information about the effects of COVID-19 on heart and stroke patients.

Registration is required. Visit sanfordhealth.org to register or call (844) 362-6330 if you have questions about the event.
