CHI St. Alexius Health is excited to offer care packs to help COVID-19 patients leave the hospital sooner to recover in the comfort of their own home with support by our health care team. The care packs have all the necessary items our patients need to safely be at home with a support person.

“Our team has been working diligently on ways to improve the quality of care we deliver. Patients recover quicker and more comfortably when they are in their homes,” said Raumi Kudrna, Vice President of Patient Care Services at CHI St. Alexius Health.

The care packs include a thermometer for the patient to monitor their temperature, an oxygen saturation monitor to measure the patient’s heart rate and oxygen saturation, several handouts with educational information and instructions, and a 24/7 hotline in case of an emergency. In addition to care packs, our patients receive a daily check-in by our Nurse Navigator, who assists them with their COVID recovery and oxygen weaning.

Sadie Storhaug, Nurse Navigator at CHI St. Alexius Health, said “Patients and their loved ones are very appreciative of having the tools they need when they leave the hospital for monitoring at home. With the items in the COVID Care Pack being free of charge to the patient, it takes the financial burden away and they are able to focus their energy on healing from COVID-19. Patients are grateful to recover in their own homes with the ability to call a 24/7 nurse hotline if any questions or concerns arise.”
