Sanford Health in Fargo is opening a new Sanford Children’s Safety Store and Safe Kids Fargo/Moorhead office on Jan. 4. The new store is at the Sanford Children's Southwest Clinic, 2701 13th Ave. S. in Fargo. In addition to being a convenient location for families visiting the clinic, the safety store will feature a large retail space and offer one-on-one consultations on safety topics.
“You and your family can shop and learn how to create a safe home environment by visiting with one of trained educators,” said Beth Oestreich, manager of community programs for Sanford Health in Fargo. "We also offer free classes, mostly online."
The new Sanford Children’s Safety Store will sell items at cost, including HALO sleep sacks, car seats, life jackets, helmets, fire safety products and more. Free educational materials will also be available.
Safe Kids Fargo/Moorhead is led by Sanford Health, which provides dedicated and caring staff, operation support and other resources to assist in achieving the goal of keeping kids safe. Based on the needs of the community, this coalition implements evidence-based programs, such as car-seat checkups and safety workshops that help parents and caregivers prevent childhood injuries.
The former Sanford Children’s Safety Center at 2801 S. University Drive in Fargo closed April 14.

Sanford Children's Car Seat Safety Center at 601 39th St. N. in Fargo remains open. It is Fargo-Moorhead’s only permanent, year-round, full-service inspection station offering car seat safety checks, bike helmet inspections and safety supplies. Car seat checks are available by appointment.
