Spencer Hospital Foundation’s Annual Fund Drive Focuses on Cardiac Rehab ExpansionDec 02, 2020 08:51AM ● By Med Magazine
Our hearts are amazing. Our hearts beat on average once each second of the day, sending life-sustaining blood, nutrients and oxygen through our bodies. Yet, too many people suffer from heart health concerns. The American Heart Association estimates 48 percent of adults in the United States have heart disease. It’s a serious illness, resulting in the cause of death for one of every four Americans.
Fortunately, for many, there is hope and recovery. Cardiopulmonary rehabilitation services available at Spencer Hospital have provided expert guidance over the past 20-plus years, helping people who have experienced a heart health incident achieve their maximum health. The need for services is growing – more than 8,000 cardiopulmonary patient visits occurred in 2019. To meet those needs, Spencer Hospital is expanding through renovation of the rehabilitation gym and educational area, along with the addition of new equipment. To assist with this beneficial project, the Spencer Regional Healthcare Foundation’s annual end-of-the-year fund drive is specifically raising funds for the project.
“Annually, our foundation selects a project for its annual campaign, and this year we’re excited to be part of the expansion of our cardiac rehab program, which admits more than 80 new patients annually,” explained Sara Taylor, executive director for the foundation. “We also know that some of our donors have other service areas which they like to support. All gifts for the enhancement of healthcare in our regional are welcomed.”
Gifts can be mailed to: Spencer Regional Healthcare Foundation, 1200 First Ave. E., Spencer, IA 51301. Or, people can also give online at www.spencerhospital.org/donate, use the giving option on Spencer Hospital’s Facebook page, or this year, even can give through PayPal or Venmo by texting: GIVE20 to 202-858-1233
“Your gift to the foundation demonstrates your heartfelt support for your family, friends, and neighbors who may be battling a cardiovascular disease. Your support of the foundation is a wonderful opportunity to make a difference in our community,” Taylor commented. “I invite anyone with questions regarding this year’s annual fund drive or other giving opportunities at Spencer Hospital to contact me.” Taylor can be reached by email at [email protected] or by phone, (712) 264-6226.
