Essentia Health welcomes Dr. Jordan Amatuegwu

Dr. Jordan Amatuegwu, who specializes in family medicine is now seeing patients at the Essentia Health-52nd Avenue Clinic in Fargo.

“I chose to join Essentia Health because of their mission to educate patients and help them make the best decision for themselves and their families,” explains Dr. Amatuegwu. “To me, Essentia Health feels like home and has a supportive and encouraging team.”

Dr. Amatuegwu earned his medical degree at the American University of Antigua in Antigua. His residency in family medicine was completed at the University of Buffalo in Buffalo, N.Y. Dr. Amatuegwu is board certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine.

“My interest in family medicine grew from growing up with my grandfather in Nigeria. He was an herbalist and took care of everyone in the village. He cared for young and old, delivered babies and treated illnesses in adults and the elderly,” shares Dr. Amatuegwu. “His work inspired me to specialize in family medicine where I can provide comprehensive care and treat an individual for a lifetime.”

“I also have a master’s degree in public health so comprehensive care and preventative medicine are very important to me and I try to bring this to every patient encounter. I am your advocate and supporter,” says Dr. Amatuegwu. “As a global health advocate, I am passionate about every individual’s right to health care and focus on treating all in need including the refugee population, Native American people and the LGBTQ community.”
