Former Masters Tournament winner Fred Couples has officially committed to the Sanford International presented by Cambria September 7-13 at Minnehaha Country Club in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

This will be the first appearance for Couples at the Sanford International. The Seattle, Washington, native has 15 career PGA TOUR victories, including the 1992 Masters. He also has 13 wins on the PGA TOUR Champions including two major titles. In 2020, Couples opened the season with four consecutive top-10 finishes. He is currently in seventh place in the Charles Schwab Cup standings.

Couples, who was ranked No. 1 in the world during the 1992 PGA TOUR season, was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2013. He competed in the Ryder Cup for the United States on five consecutive teams from 1989-1997. He played on four President’s Cup teams and was captain of the team from 2009-2013.

“Adding Fred Couples to an already incredible field sets the Sanford International up for three days of great competition by the best players on the PGA TOUR Champions,” said Josh Brewster, tournament director. “We’re excited to welcome back our first two champions – Steve Stricker and Rocco Mediate – and can’t wait to see who will raise the Sanford International trophy on Sunday.”
