Functional Medicine now available through Telehealth

Modern Day Health Care (MDHC) is an advanced practice nurse owned and operated health care clinic, closing a gap in the rural health care landscape by using modern technology and telemedicine to offer acute and primary care services. With the addition of Dr. Christine Wakefield, MDHC is now able to add functional medicine to the list of provided services.

Functional Medicine is a systems biology–based approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of disease. Each symptom or differential diagnosis may be one of many contributing to an individual’s illness. Telemedicine is ideal to get started with this holistic treatment method.

Dr. Christine Wakefield has been providing chiropractic and natural healthcare in South Dakota for 22 years with Wakefield Chiropractic Plus. She received her Functional Medicine Certification in 2017 and has become experienced with integrating laboratory findings, patient specific histories, knowledge of true cellular and system function, and her own well-developed intuitive abilities. She is excited to delve deep into issues regarding hormones, digestion, autoimmunities/allergies, and detoxification in collaboration with the other providers at MDHC.

“I joined MDHC because I want to be able to bring functional medicine to rural areas that normally don’t have access to this specialty care,” says Dr. Wakefield. “By using MDHC’s tools I can visit my patients in their living room, no matter how remotely they live. By collaborating with the other practitioners, I will be able to provide the holistic care and treatment my patients need.”
