POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for directing all aspects of the Human Resources function including staffing and selection, benefits, compensation, employee relations, human resources information systems, payroll, organizational development, employee development, occupational health and safety, record keeping and administrative activities of the department.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Directs the planning, development, communications and administration of PLHS’s compensation programs and ensure that internal equity and competitiveness with the marketplace are maintained. Directs the development, modification, maintenance and communication of health and welfare and retirement plans. Directs an effective recruiting and selection program to assure staffing needs are met in a timely and cost efficient manner. Research, develop, recommend and communicate policies and procedures and assure the understanding and compliance of these policies by all personnel.
Direct the development and maintenance of the Human Resources Information System and payroll system to ensure that employee records are maintained in a safe and confidential manner within established legal and internal guidelines. Provide leadership, guidance and information to the HR staff and directors and managers throughout the system. Protect the interests of employees and the healthcare system in accordance with established internal policies and government laws and regulations. Determines and recommends employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employee relationship with the healthcare system facilities and promote a high level of employee morale. Provide consultation on policy matters and employee relations issues. In conjunctions with senior management, establish and implement corporate compliance program. Participate in professional and civic organizations. Establish and maintain relationships with banking institutions. Understand and comply with the policies of the organization. Complete other duties as assigned by the VP of HR.
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree, five years progressive human resource management experience required. Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Industrial/ Organizational or related field and SPHR certification preferred. Demonstrated human resources generalist competencies, including the functional areas of employee relations, compensation, benefits, training and development, recruitment, and employee health and wellness.
