Surgical Institute of South Dakota Welcomes New Staff Members

Wade Sendelbach, CNP
Wade Sendelbach, CNP, has joined Surgical Institute of South Dakota. Wade earned his Masters of Science in Nursing from South Dakota State University. Wade is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Family Nurse Practitioner. He holds certifications with ATLS, FCCS, BLS, ACLS and PALS. Wade will primarily practice in the acute surgical service at Avera McKennan Hospital.
Dustin Smoot, MD, FACS
Surgical Institute of South Dakota welcomes Dustin Smoot, MD, FACS to their practice. Prior to joining Surgical Institute, Dr. Smoot worked for Spearfish Regional Hospital. Dr. Smoot received his medical degree from the University of Kansas Medical Center and completed his general surgery residency at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center. He also completed a fellowship in surgical critical care at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Dr. Smoot will primarily practice in the acute surgical service at Avera McKennan Hospital.
Jesse Guardado, MD
Surgical Institute of South Dakota welcomes Jesse Guardado, MD to their practice. Dr. Guardado received his medical degree from the University of Illinois and completed his general surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Guardado completed his colon and rectal surgery fellowship at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Dr. Guardado will specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of conditions that effect the lower digestive tract including colon and rectal cancer, diverticulitis, colon polyps, inflammatory bowel disease, hemorrhoids and more. Dr. Guardado will be seeing patients on September 16, 2019.
