Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) is pleased to announce the addition of Sara Braskamp, RN, LN, as hospital dietitian, according to Jake Redden, DHSc, MHA, MPH, FACHE, vice president of quality and support services for HRMC.

As dietitian, Braskamp plans, directs and provides a dietetic plan to meet the nutritional and therapeutic needs of patients, staff and visitors. She works with inpatients, as well as outpatients on nutrition counseling, education, meal planning and behavior modification.

Braskamp, who began her new position May 13, earned a bachelor of science degree in nutrition/dietetics from South Dakota State University (SDSU). She completed a dietetic internship at the University of South Dakota (USD).

Prior to joining HRMC, she worked as a dietitian/nutritionist for the WIC program with South Dakota Department of Health for 12 years, serving 6-to-11 counties in northeast SD. Using her knowledge, Braskamp was able to help individuals improve their nutrition, blood pressure, cholesterol and effectively manage their weight though education, counseling and guidance.

Braskamp recently relocated to Huron from Wentworth, SD, and has one daughter, Sidney, who attends Sheridan Community College. In her free time, Braskamp enjoys riding horses, home improvement activities and creative arts.

If you or a loved one could benefit from nutrition counseling, ask your physician for a referral or contact Braskamp directly at 605-353-6585. Braskamp is also available to provide educational presentations to local groups and civic organizations.
