Audiologist Jason R. Howe, M.S., FAAA, CCC-A of the Yankton Medical Clinic, P.C. recently attended the Academy of Doctors of Audiology Annual Convention in Orlando, Florida. This meeting is designed for clinical audiologists, dispensing audiologists, research audiologists and scientists interested in hearing, hearing loss, dizziness, tinnitus and hearing aids.
Topics included: Co-morbidity of moderate kidney disease and hearing loss; Co-morbidity of diabetes and hearing loss and balance disorders; Co-Morbidity of arthritis and hearing loss; Importance of hearing aid use in the hearing impaired to reduce the risk of cognitive decline; The association between hearing loss and accelerated cognitive decline; The importance of collaboration and cooperation between audiologists and primary care providers; Building leaders to improve healthcare; and Tangible skills for long-term success in audiology.
