Rapid City Regional Hospital Pharmacy Residency Program Receives Continued Accreditation

The Rapid City Regional Hospital (RCRH) pharmacy residency program has been reaccredited through 2019 by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). The postgraduate year-one (PGY1) pharmacy residency program was founded at RCRH in 2012 to meet the nationwide growing need for clinical pharmacists.

The ASHP pharmacy residency accreditation is a key driver for success for RCRH pharmacy residents. ASHP is the only programmatic accreditor in the U.S. for pharmacy residency programs.

“This accreditation for our pharmacy residency program is tremendous for not only the Rapid City community, but for all of our surrounding communities throughout the Black Hills,” said Residency Program Directory Katie Hayes, Pharm.D.

“The residency program also elevates the level of practice of our entire pharmacy team through education and innovation, improves relationships among pharmacists and other disciplines and provides patients with quality care from this integrated, team-based approach,” Hayes added.

Pharmacy residents care for patients in many areas of Regional Health, including internal medicine, critical care, infectious disease, pediatrics/neonatology, HIV clinic, oncology, cardiology, dialysis, home care/hospice, and Family Medicine Clinic in Rapid City.
