Avera Queen Of Peace - Mitchell, SD, has announced that Dileep Bhat, MD, and his Dakota Urology Clinic practice, and Avera Queen of Peace Hospital have formed a new alliance through an employment contract effective January 1, 2014.  Dr. Bhat and staff will now be called Avera Medical Group Urology.

Clark stated, “Avera Queen of Peace is pleased to welcome long-time Urology physician Dr. Dileep Bhat and his staff as employees of Avera Queen of Peace Hospital.  The practice of medicine is very demanding, and this employment agreement will allow Dr. Bhat to spend more time focusing on patient care, and less time managing the business of a medical practice.  As a result of this new relationship, the hospital will have the ability to utilize Dr. Bhat’s insight and expertise as new programs and services are developed.”  Clark continued, “The agreement really defines the relationship and provides a sense of stability for Dr. Bhat as well as the hospital.”

Clark concluded, “Ten or fifteen years ago, employment agreements were almost non‑existent in the Midwest.  However, changes in reimbursement and the complexity associated with practicing medicine have made hospital employment an appealing option for physicians.  Nationally, the trend of hospital and physician integration has increased as health care reform is implemented.  Successful health care organizations going forward in this new environment will be those who are closely aligned with the local providers, working as partners to improve quality and patient outcomes.  The hospital looks forward to a long and respectful partnership with Dr. Bhat which will benefit the community and the region for many years to come.”
