The University of South Dakota is home to the School of Health Sciences, the state’s only comprehensive School of Health Sciences. The school has exclusive academic offerings in the state, such as the only public DNAP program and Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences degree; the state’s only accredited programs in occupational therapy, physical therapy, physician assistant, Master of Social Work, dental hygiene, and addiction counseling & prevention; as well as the accredited Parry Center for Clinical Skills & Simulation and the largest cadaver lab in the state.

USD Health Sciences students have access to collaborative learning in a brand new, 45,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art building in Vermillion, and Sioux Falls-based students learn on the recently-transformed University of South Dakota-Sioux Falls campus. In these facilities, students gain technical and practical expertise through hands-on learning experiences; the state-of-the-art facilities enable collaborative and simulated learning opportunities, and the fieldwork elements of USD’s programs provide students with real-world settings in which to apply their knowledge.

These experiences are guided by expert faculty who understand the opportunities and demands of the profession and are there to support students every step of the way toward their careers. They work alongside peers from a variety of disciplines as they develop into coordinated members of patient health care teams.

With strong ties to health care systems across the region, USD understands the needs and demands of the industry; that insight informs the training and experiences offered to prepare students to serve patients and the health care system as a leader capable of delivering expert guidance, compassionate care and transformative healing.
