The University of Nebraska Board of Regents Thursday approved the establishment of the Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) degree, to be administered and housed within the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Allied Health Professions.

Meyer Inducted into Iowa Hall of Fame
Dr. Steven Meyer, founder of Siouxland Tanzania Educational and Medical Ministries (STEMM) in Sioux City, Iowa, will be inducted as a member of the 2022 Iowa Volunteer Hall of Fame by Lt. Governor Adam Gregg in a ceremony at the Iowa State Capitol building on Thursday, April 21 at 2:30 p.m.

As the COVID-19 pandemic began to impact our region, everyone in healthcare had to adapt quickly and decisively. We invited organizations across the area to share some of the many 'COVID Heroes' who stepped up to do what was needed.
Creating Unbreakable Bonds
This March, just as the attention of the world was turning to COVID-19, orthopaedic surgeon Steven J. Meyer, MD, of the CNOS Clinic in Dakota Dunes became the recipient of the 2020 American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons' Humanitarian Award. The award came just three months after his 51st medical mission trip to Tanzania as part of Siouxland Tanzania Educational Medical Ministries (STEMM), the nonprofit organization he founded in 1997. STEMM is dedicated to bringing medical care and educational opportunities to the East African nation. Dr. Meyer spoke with us in April about the award, STEMM, Tanzania, and pivoting during the pandemic.
