Sanford Worthington Medical Center Receives ‘A’ Safety Grade

Sanford Worthington Medical Center received an “A” Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade for spring 2024.

This national distinction recognizes Sanford Health’s achievements in protecting patients from preventable harm and error while in the hospital. 

The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on more than 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.  

“Our team in Worthington has worked diligently to maintain and enhance safety and quality for patients, visitors and employees,” said Jennifer Weg, administrator of Sanford Worthington. “Our team of caregivers go above and beyond to protect the patients we care for, by standing up for safety and implementing best practices which are significant in improving the overall safety of the patients we serve.” 

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harm to patients while in the hospital. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
