MLH Leaders Go Green, Help With Project

A much-loved tradition called “Greenies” will be revived on the Mary Lanning Healthcare (MLH) campus this week as the finishing touches are placed on the Medical Office Building project.

Greenies involves MLH executives, directors and managers coming together to help with landscaping on the hospital grounds. At noon on Thursday, September 7, MLH leaders and Kipp Zallman, MLH horticulturist, will work together to complete installation of sod on the south side of the new Medical Office Building, 715 N. Kansas Avenue, on campus.

“This is just another way we work together as a family at MLH,” said Eric Barber, MLH President & CEO.

“We are all pitching in on a project to help with the beautification of our campus.”

MLH also has a tradition of creating beautifully landscaped areas on its campus because leaders recognize the importance of outdoor spaces in healing. Former MLH President & CEO Mike Kearney started the Greenies tradition in the early 2000s. Projects included work on the garden and pond outside the windows of the Morrison Cancer Center as well as landscaping along Seventh Street near the MLH Surgery Center.
