Huron Regional Medical Center Honors Lien As December Exceptional Employee

Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) recently honored Seth Lien as the December Exceptional Employee of the Month.

Lien works in the laboratory as a medical lab technician. He has worked at HRMC for just over two years and was nominated by colleagues for the award. One nomination stated, “Seth has volunteered to participate in training our HOSA-Future Health Professionals students to prepare for their competitions and has come in the past to speak to the entire HOSA chapter about the medical lab technician profession. He does an excellent job at encouraging students and representing HRMC well!”

Another colleague remarked, “Seth will go above and beyond to help solve problems and resolve issues. Seth loves to learn and share what he knows with his coworkers.”

HRMC’s Exceptional Employee of the Month award recognizes an employee who goes above and beyond to demonstrate the hospital’s values. Employees can be nominated by other coworkers or by a patient or visitor who witnesses exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments chooses the employee on a monthly basis and an Exceptional Employee of the Year is chosen at year-end from the 12 monthly honorees by the HRMC board of directors.

As December exceptional employee, Lien received a meal certificate to a local restaurant, a professional photo session and portrait, $50, and a lapel pin.

Upon receiving the award, Lien expressed, “I like the variety of the laboratory. One day you can be working in hematology working on an interesting blood smear, the other you can be working in microbiology growing an organism that I had only read about until then. Over the couple of years that I have been here it’s been a near continuous learning experience. It is especially nice that I am able to work with some great coworkers that have years of experience behind them.”

Lien resides in Huron. He has two sisters, one who works for SDAHO and one who attends Mississippi State University, Mississippi. In his free time, he plays a decent amount of video games and meets up with his friends every so often to play Dungeons and Dragons.

Patients or visitors can nominate an exceptional employee by calling 605-353-6539 for a nomination form or via e-mail at.
