CHI Health Good Samaritan Earns An ‘A’ Nationally For Patient Safety

CHI Health Good Samaritan earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog that sets standards for excellence in patient care.  Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program exclusively based on hospital prevention of medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day nationally. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually in the fall and spring.

“Achieving the highest level of quality and safety, whether it’s our Leapfrog Grade A or our CMS 5 Star rating, is a reflection of our day-to-day commitment to our patients and each other. It means our patients rest safe knowing they’ll receive the best possible care in the region,” says Curt Coleman, president, CHI Health Good Samaritan. “For almost 100 years now, we have taken great pride in what we do and who we do it for--and it shows.”

Only six hospitals in Nebraska received an “A” rating, including CHI Health Immanuel, CHI Health Lakeside and CHI Health Midlands all of Omaha.
